Semarang, 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (FEB Undip), once again unveiled its best talents through the 2026 Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres). Andreas Sitanggang, a student from the Economics Study Program, class of 2023, was selected as the 2026 Outstanding Student (Pilmapres) 1.

This achievement is the result of Andreas’s long journey since the beginning of his studies. Before officially enrolling as an Undip student through the Outstanding Seed Selection (SBUB) pathway, Andreas demonstrated determination and foresight. During the selection process in May 2023, he presented his academic action plan to the Head of the Economics Study Program, Jaka Aminata. At that time, Andreas emphasized his commitment to not only studying but also contributing significantly through academic and non-academic achievements.

Andreas’s journey to Pilmapres began with his participation in the Grand Opening Research (GORe) event held by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of FEB Undip. During the event, he was introduced to the four pillars of research and inspired by an explanation from one of Undip’s outstanding students. This is where Andreas’ interest in the Pilmapres (Presidential Selection) grew.

Andreas views the Pilmapres as more than just a competition, but rather a platform to inspire others and provide tangible benefits to the surrounding community.

“Achievement isn’t just about a high GPA or winning a competition, but rather how those achievements can have a positive impact and real contribution to society” Andreas said.

Andreas undertook the process of winning the 2026 Undip FEB Pilmapres with full seriousness and dedication. From the beginning of the semester, he began organizing his academic and non-academic portfolios to meet the assessment criteria. Andreas systematically developed a plan, starting with outstanding achievements in academics, competitions, and research activities, and developing creative ideas oriented towards solutions to socio-economic problems in the community.

Furthermore, Andreas also wrote a motivation letter reflecting his vision as a student and prepared a branding video that represented him professionally. All administrative documents were meticulously prepared. After going through the file verification process, Andreas was officially declared a finalist for the 2026 Undip Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Presidential Election. This marked the beginning of a more challenging journey, as he faced the final stage. During this stage, Andreas presented his ideas in the form of a poster presentation and faced a question-and-answer session in English. The challenge was even greater because he had to master the material, convey it clearly, and remain calm in answering critical questions from the panel of judges.

Although initially nervous, the friendly and communicative atmosphere of the final allowed him to perform at his best. Andreas acknowledged that this experience was not just a competition, but also a valuable learning opportunity to hone his international communication skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence. “I felt challenged to step out of my comfort zone, but that’s where the real learning process lies” he said.

Behind this success, Andreas didn’t walk alone. The full support of his family, who always offered prayers, campus friends who faithfully accompanied him during his presentation practice, and supervisors like Mr. Fajri, who provided substantive feedback, provided a significant boost. This moral and technical support has made Andreas even more confident in facing each selection stage with a clear mind and high spirits.

For Andreas, this achievement is not the end, but rather the first step to continued growth.

“For me, the Pilmapres (Pilmapres) is not solely about outstanding academic achievement, but rather about the journey of self-development and providing inspiration that benefits those around us. Let’s start with small steps and don’t forget to enjoy the process!” Andreas advised other students.

Andreas’s story is proof that determination, consistency, and a supportive environment can lead students to brilliant achievements. The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Undip believes Andreas’s success aligns with the faculty’s mission to produce graduates who excel not only academically but also possess character, creativity, and the ability to make a real contribution to society.

With this achievement, Andreas is expected to inspire other students to dare to dream, work hard, and not be afraid to face challenges. His achievements are also expected to strengthen the role of FEB Undip in supporting a generation of high-achieving young people who are ready to compete at the national and international levels.
