Diponegoro University celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence with solemnity and joy. The flag-raising ceremony, held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Widya Puraya Field, was a lively affair, attended by all lecturers and staff. From 6:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), the campus atmosphere was filled with a spirit of togetherness and a strong sense of nationalism.
The event began with a cheerleading competition between units, echoing the spirit of unity, followed by a costume competition for both men and women. Interestingly, in addition to wearing formal ceremonial attire, several lecturers and staff also wore traditional clothing from various regions of Indonesia, a tangible symbol of the motto “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity).
With the overarching theme “United Sovereignty, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia,” the commemoration of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day at Diponegoro University is not only a moment to commemorate the services of our heroes, but also to strengthen the sense of brotherhood, diversity, and the commitment of the entire academic community to support Indonesia towards a more advanced and prosperous future.
More than just an annual ceremony, this commemoration serves as a reminder that the spirit of independence must live on in every step we take—whether in the academic setting, the workplace, or in social life. From the Diponegoro campus, this blaze of spirit is expected to ignite optimism in the younger generation to continue working, innovating, and leading Indonesia to glory on the world stage.
Merdeka! 🇮🇩✨
