Semarang, Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – Diponegoro University held a Flag Ceremony to Commemorate National Awakening Day 2025 at Widya Puraya Field, Undip Tembalang Campus. The ceremony began at 07.00 WIB and was attended by all Undip academics, including permanent employees (ASN and Non-ASN) and contract employees.
In the ceremony, the Chancellor of Diponegoro University Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. read the message from the Minister of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia. In the message, it was conveyed that a solid awakening is an awakening that grows slowly, but bears goodness and progress for the nation. The spirit of awakening is expected to be a foothold in facing the challenges of an ever-changing era.
After reading the message, the Chancellor of Undip conveyed his personal reflection to all participants in the ceremony. He shared his experiences during academic visits to various renowned universities in Taiwan, such as National Tsing Hua University, National Chung Hsing University, Asia University, and several other leading universities. From the visit, the Undip Chancellor learned a lot about research management, educational innovation, and university governance that have an impact on the progress of the country.
“We brought home many valuable lessons from Taiwan. Hopefully, Undip can follow in their footsteps in terms of scientific development and innovation, in line with the spirit of National Awakening Day that we commemorate today,” said Prof. Suharnomo.
The ceremony was solemn and full of enthusiasm, closed with prayers and hopes that Diponegoro University will continue to grow into a superior campus and provide the greatest benefits to the nation and state.
The momentum of National Awakening Day is a reminder that big changes always start from small steps and burning enthusiasm. Let’s work together to build a more advanced, innovative, and impactful Undip, in order to realize a stronger, more independent, and more competitive Indonesia in the global arena.
