National Education Day 2025 at Undip: A Moment of Reflection and Spirit of Building the Nation Through Education

Semarang, Monday, May 5, 2025 — Diponegoro University (Undip) held a Flag Ceremony to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas). This activity was held at Widya Puraya Field, Undip Tembalang Campus, and started at exactly 07.00 WIB.

The ceremony was attended by university leaders, lecturers, education staff, and students from various faculties. All participants appeared orderly and solemn in following the series of ceremonies by wearing daily uniforms in the form of white tops and khaki bottoms, in accordance with the provisions that have been set.

In his speech, the Chancellor of Diponegoro University conveyed the importance of education as the foundation for the nation’s progress. He also invited all academicians to continue to contribute to improving the quality of higher education through innovation, research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The momentum of Hardiknas was also used to reflect on Undip’s achievements in the fields of education and community service. As one of the leading universities in Indonesia, Undip continues to strive to provide inclusive, globally competitive, and national value-based education.

This ceremony was also enlivened by the performance of a student choir singing national songs, as well as the reading of a brief history of National Education Day to remind us of the great services of Ki Hadjar Dewantara as the Father of Indonesian National Education. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm but remained orderly and full of respect.

At the end of the series of activities, the Chancellor of Diponegoro University, Prof. Suharnomo expressed his hopes for education in the future, including the need for learning that is adaptive to technological developments and the needs of the world of work. This aspiration is an important part of designing the direction of higher education policy in the future.

As Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s message, “Ing ngarsa sung tuladha, ing madya mangun karsa, tut wuri handayani.” Let’s make education a path of light to illuminate the nation, and together with Undip, we continue to ignite the fire of enthusiasm to educate the lives of Indonesia.
