Yogyakarta, August 9, 2024. Moh Najikhul Fajri, S.E., M.SE., Lecturer of the UNDIP Economics Study Program also attended the Jogja Economics Forum held through Bank Indonesia and the Association of Economics Graduates (ISEI) Yogyakarta. In his activity, Fajri explained the important role of government support in the development of silver entrepreneurs there by using various instruments. Sustainable employment development is very important in encouraging silver entrepreneurs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) as a response to demographic dynamics that show an increase in the number of elderly people. By utilizing the potential experience, knowledge, and skills possessed by the elderly group, the government can design policy instruments that support the creation of new jobs while increasing their participation in the economic sector. The right policy instruments, such as providing entrepreneurship training, access to capital, and business network support, can strengthen the competitiveness of silver entrepreneurs, so that they are able to contribute to the regional economy in a sustainable manner. In addition, this kind of policy helps extend the productive age and strengthens the social inclusion of the elderly group, thus supporting the vision of DIY as an inclusive and sustainable region.

On the same occasion, Fajri was also accompanied by fellow students from the Master of Economics and Development Studies UNDIP who presented topics related to the Green Economy. The students included Muhammad Silahul Mu’min and Muh. Syariful Anam. With these overlapping topics, it makes it even more complex and is considered a benchmark for the future of the DIY economy.

Silver entrepreneurs have great potential to contribute to the development of a green economy in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) through the implementation of environmentally friendly and sustainable business practices. With a rich background of experience, they can utilize environmentally friendly technology and business models that support nature conservation. For example, silver entrepreneurs can develop businesses in the renewable energy sector, organic farming, or creative industries based on recycling. The correlation between silver entrepreneurs and the green economy will help encourage local innovation that is in line with the goals of sustainable development in DIY, while utilizing their expertise in creating new environmentally friendly job opportunities. With the support of the right policies, their role can strengthen the transformation of DIY into an inclusive and competitive green economy center.

Through this activity, Fajri was successfully crowned as the best paper and had the opportunity to become the 2nd Winner in the General Category. Meanwhile, two other students won the title of 1st Place in the Student Category. This activity is expected to provide space and exchange of ideas on various current issues in the field of Economics, especially in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
